New Amphitheater in Shakopee: A Major Addition to Twin Cities Entertainment Scene

Music lovers and entertainment enthusiasts across the south metro have something exciting to look forward to this summer.
Just a short drive away from Lakeville, a new 19,000-seat amphitheater near Canterbury Park in Shakopee is nearing completion and set to open its doors in the summer of 2025.
Live Nation, one of the country's premier entertainment companies, will operate the venue, which is expected to host between 30 and 45 shows annually once fully operational.
For the inaugural season, residents can expect a slightly abbreviated schedule as the venue will likely open later in the summer months.
"This is the largest amphitheater in Minnesota," notes Michael Kerski, Shakopee's Director of Planning and Development.
The venue represents a significant investment in the region's entertainment infrastructure and fills an important gap in the Twin Cities concert market.
Part of a Larger Vision
The amphitheater is just one component of an ambitious 140-acre development adjacent to Canterbury Park.
This entertainment district will eventually include shops, restaurants, and hotels, with 28 acres still open for future development opportunities.
For Shakopee, the new venue reinforces the city's position as an entertainment destination in the metro area.
The city already boasts attractions including Valleyfair amusement park, Canterbury Park's horse racing and card room, and the nearby Mystic Lake Casino and Renaissance Festival.
Stay tuned for announcements about the inaugural concert lineup, which should be coming in the next few months!
