About the New Lakeville Pickleball Facility

The indoor pickleball facility will occupy approximately 42,000 square feet within a new multi-tenant building in Lakeville's business district.

Pickle in the Middle plans to operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week, accommodating up to 60 players on the courts at any given time.

The facility will offer several playing options for Lakeville area pickleball enthusiasts:

  • Court rentals for private games

  • Open play sessions for drop-in players

  • Organized leagues for competitive play

About Pickle in the Middle

Pickle in the Middle already operates successful locations in Brooklyn Park and Lake Elmo, Minnesota.

The company maintains an average occupancy rate of around 56% across their existing facilities, with peak usage typically occurring during evenings and weekends.

The business model focuses exclusively on pickleball, with no food or beverage service offered at any of their locations.

Each facility includes a manager who visits daily and professional cleaning services three times per week.

Planning and Community Impact

The Lakeville Planning Commission reviewed the proposal on June 26, 2025, and unanimously recommended approval.

The commission found that the indoor recreation facility aligns with the city's comprehensive planning goals and supports diversified economic development in Dakota County.

According to city planning documents, the facility is expected to generate moderate traffic that can be accommodated by existing street infrastructure.

The completed building will include 223 parking spaces to serve the pickleball facility and other tenants.
