Two outstanding Lakeville businesses have been recognized by Dakota County for their exceptional contributions to entrepreneurship and innovation.

B-52 Burgers and Brew Honored with Bob Klas Sr. Entrepreneur Award

Mark Reese, owner of B-52 Burgers and Brew, was awarded the prestigious Bob Klas Sr. Entrepreneur Award, celebrating his remarkable entrepreneurial journey.

Starting in 2011 with a single restaurant generating $1.5 million in annual sales, B-52 Burgers and Brew has grown to four locations with combined sales surpassing $11 million.

This success is a testament to their unwavering commitment to exceptional customer service and strong community ties.

Dalsin Industries Receives Bob Killeen Award for Innovation

Dalsin Industries, based in Lakeville, earned the Bob Killeen Award, which highlights innovation and quality in business practices.

Specializing in contract metal manufacturing and assembly, Dalsin Industries has set a high standard in their field, showcasing exceptional capabilities and dedication to excellence.

Abbie Torbert of BTD Manufacturing Honored for Excellence in Youth Employment

Abbie Torbert, a senior Human Resources generalist at BTD Manufacturing in Lakeville, has been awarded the Willis E. Branning Excellence in Youth Employment Services Award by Dakota County.

Sponsored by Dakota Electric, this award recognizes individuals who are dedicated to preparing the next generation for the workforce.

Torbert works closely with students from Lakeville and Farmington school districts, providing valuable career guidance and connecting them with employment opportunities.

Lakeville South’s Lisa Smith Named Physical Education Teacher of the Year

Lisa Smith, a physical education teacher at Lakeville South High School, has been honored as the 2025 SHAPE America Central District High School Physical Education Teacher of the Year.

SHAPE America (Society of Health and Physical Educators) is a leading organization that supports and advances the work of health and physical educators nationwide.

As a recipient of this district-level award, Ms. Smith is now in the running for the prestigious National Teacher of the Year award, which will be announced at the 2025 SHAPE America National Convention & Expo in Baltimore this coming April.

Congratulations to Ms. Smith on this well-deserved recognition!

CIVIL NEWS

City Council Meeting ⚖️ 

There will be no city council meeting this week, however this is what was covered in last week’s meeting:

The council celebrated the Class of 2022 firefighters, recognizing their completion of probation and extensive training.

The consent agenda included routine items like legislative priorities, economic development plans, and donations exceeding $32,000 from Lakeville Liquors customers for the Beyond the Yellow Ribbon campaign.

The 2024-2028 Economic Development Strategic Plan was approved.

The meeting concluded with announcements of upcoming sessions, holiday greetings, and adjournment.
