City Council ⚖️

There is no city council meeting this week, only a working session, here are the main highlights from last weeks meeting:

Economic Development Annual Report:
- The city experienced $258 million in building permit activity, with $75.1 million from commercial and industrial projects. Significant projects included RL Cold Storage ($32 million) and Midwest ENT Specialist.
- Residential construction remained strong with 285 single-family permits and 100 detached townhomes. Lakeville ranked second for residential permit numbers, behind Woodbury. The median home price was $415,000.
Ribbon Cuttings and Groundbreaking:
- The city celebrated 25 ribbon cuttings and 3 groundbreaking ceremonies, highlighting the dynamic growth in retail, medical, and other sectors.
Children’s Minnesota Specialty Center expanded into a neighboring space, and MNGI Digestive Health opened a new 100,000 sq. ft medical office building. Exuberant Chiropractic also moved to a new location, and Midwest ENT specialists broke ground on a new 14,000 sq. ft facility.
Business Retention and Expansion Program:
- The Business Retention and Expansion Program was created to support local businesses. The program aims to visit businesses, understand their needs, and provide relevant resources. Quarterly reports will help track the success of the program.
